CALL COMMAND

In the event of an emergency will you be informed quickly? Probably not if you are not on our Call Command Community Safe system. Just call Lisa to add your name and phone number to the list and you are in the loop. You can add other numbers; cell, work etc. as well to be informed.

911 CALLS

Each 911 call we make from the Village cost us $14.00. It is very important that we use 911 only in an emergency. In non-emergency situations you can contact our police by calling the car directly – 623.2563 or 941.1313 x11. REMEMBER: IN AN EMERGENCY CALL 911!!

HOUSING INITIATIVE

As you know our housing stock is in a crises situation. Renters out number owners. This is an alarming situation. Let me be very clear, there is absolutely nothing wrong with renters, most of us have rented in our lifetime. The problem is that we have a constant turnaround and not many establish roots.

Therefore many do not take pride in our community. Couple this with the fact the house flippers that are in it for a quick buck, the problem grows quickly. Council sees the urgency and has committed substantial resources in the form of a Building Inspector and Code Enforcer to combat the problem.. They have expended thousands of dollars for the Addyston Clean-up so that each of us can get rid of any junk or clutter in and around our dwellings.

Please take advantage of this as it will be followed by strict code enforcement court appearances and/or fines.

ARM MOVES FORWARD

The Addyston Restoration Movement (ARM) continues its quest to be a force in upgrading housing in our Village. We are meeting with the movers and shakers in the restoration business who are showing us the ins and outs of: acquiring property, finding grants, tearing down, providing money for fix-ups, how to avoid foreclosure and much more. We are so excited about our first project. We are renovating the exterior of Mr. Norma Bauer and her son Butch’s home, you can help. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month. Please, join The Movement.

--UPCOMING EVENTS--

Once again Council has set aside fund for the clean up of our Village. The date is April 26 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Between those hours Rumpke trucks and our Village volunteers will pick up practically any thing put out.

Because there will be changes in the household chemical pick up, paint and oils must be dried or mixed with kitty litter. Each year we have a great corp of volunteers to get the job done. Please call Lisa or stop by to be a volunteer. Get a free T-Shirt, lunch and a chance to give back.

Phase I of our Memorial Brick Project was completed and dedicated on Memorial day of 2006. If you have not seen the project, please visit the Front of the Municipal Building. It shows Mayors, Clerks, and Treasurers that have served our Village since its incorporation in 1891.

On the other side of the entrance to the building are individual bricks that memorialize families, family members, friends and loved ones from in and around Addyston.

Phase II promises to be equally as exciting! We will continue with the individual bricks and on the Historical side we will be adding Water Board members, Police Chiefs, and other notable Addystonians that have gone beyond the call of duty with accomplishments in and outside of our village.

Click here to print the Memorial Brick order form.

To be a part of the project call 513.941.1313 x10.
