Matthew Addy, a Canadian immigrant and businessman, founded the village of Addyston, Ohio, in 1891 to house workers for his Addyston Pipe and Steel Company along the Ohio River. He established the industrial town, located west of Cincinnati, which was incorporated in 1891.
